The formative course which leads to become a qualified professional Practitioner of Feldenkrais Method®, develops through a wide set of experiences and include several stages: awakening, that is interest in Method and practice on oneself, the Four-Year Training, practice with public. In all these stages the personal involvment prevails; this because the future teachers must try and comprehend directly on themselves what they will put at other people's disposal.
The Four-Year Training Program confers the diploma of Feldenkrais Method® Practitioner.
It prepares students to acquire competence in practice of the two techniques, Awareness Through Movement® and Functional Integration®.
DURATION:
The Training Program lasts four years: fourty teaching days every year; 5 teaching hours a day, for overall 800 hours.
The Training Program is normally subdivided in two – or more - segments per year.
Moreover students receive during the Training Program at least twelve individual lessons of Functional Integration® from Assistant Trainers and Practioners with at least five of experience.
EDUCATIONAL STAFF:
The Training Program is directed by a Trainer-Educational Director, responsible of the methodology. He/she teaches half the lessons. The other lessons are teached by at least other three Trainers. This is to give a survey of the variety and the complexity of the Feldenkrais Method®.
Moreover, there are also Assistant Trainers (one for 15/20 students).
Trainers and Assistants are Feldenkrais® Practioners with a long experience of teaching – they have made a specific course to become Trainer and Assistant.
The Training Program offers the students a variety of strategies of learning: practical training, demonstrations, video screening and discussions, group activity, work in pair, individual lessons, supervision of individual and group work, conferences, discussions, readings ...
Students at the third year - having successfully attended the first and the second years – will be authorized to teach Awareness through Movement® to the public, with the purpose of personal learning. He/she will be qualified as “Practioner-student authorized to teach Awareness Through Movement®”.
At the end of the course and with the diploma, students will have the authorization to pratice professionally both Awareness through Movement® and Functional Integration®.
The diploma is issued by the International Feldenkrais Federation, which gather all the national guilds of Feldenkrais Practitioners.
The diploma is internationally valid and is recognized by all the Feldenkrais National Guild.
The Training Programs are approved by the AIIMF (Associazione Italiana Insegnanti Metodo Feldenkrais) and authorized by the EuroTAB (European Training Accreditation Board, which, together with NaTAB - North American Training Accreditation Board – and AusTAB - Australian Training Accreditation Board – settles the rules and international standards for the Training Programs).
To be admitted in a Training Program you must have experienced the Feldenkrais Method®, both ATM® and FI®.
If you did not experienced the Method, you can contact the nearest Practitioner (see for Italy www.feldenkrais.it, www.eurotab.org).
Once having achieved the diploma, the training and the refreshes courses go on with Post-Training courses, attending as guest other Training Programs, personal studing through books and video, study group with other Trainers, widening similar and connected subjects, partecipating to congresses and other activities.
Since 1987 17 Training Program were held in Italy, and five are being held.
