Functional Integration® (FI)

A Functional Integration® (FI) is a one-to-one session that takes place through MANUAL TOUCH.

During the initial interview, the teacher tries to clarify the person’s needs (isolated pain in the body, general tension, insomnia, improving sports performances, more flexibility, coordination, etc.).

Once the focus of the lessons is found, the person normally lies (fully dressed) on a Feldenkrais® table and the teacher guides the learning process through a LIGHT and INTERACTIVE TOUCH. The aim is to let the person feel how different parts of its body interact with each other and not to correct imperfections.

The teacher, in its dialogue with the person’s nervous system, offers better ALTERNATIVES OF MOVEMENT, so that the person can find its best way to avoid pain and discomfort.

The FI never “corrects” or “fixes” the person. It helps him/her to recognise movement patterns and reorganise them in a MORE EFFICIENT CONFIGURATION.

Lesson after lesson, the work becomes more complex and involves more parts of the body and aspects of the person, including feelings, sensations, thoughts.
