COURSE STRUCTURE AND DURATION
The Feldenkrais® training prepares students in the practice and teaching of Awareness Through Movement® (ATM) and Functional Integration® (FI) lessons. At the end of the training, the student receives the internationally recognised Feldenkrais® Practitioner certificate, which allows him/her to practice the method everywhere in the world. In Italy, the profession of Feldenkrais® practitioner is regulated by the law 4/2013.
Trainings last 160 days (800 hours) and they can be organised over the course of 3 or 4 years, according to their schedule.
Our Feldenkrais® trainings are approved and certified by EuroTAB (European Training Accreditation Board) and the Italian Association of Feldenkrais Practitioners (AIIMF). These institutions, together with the other TABs, regulate the international standards of the Feldenkrais® profession and education.
After the training, the Practitioner can continue studying and with post-trainings, masterclasses and advanced courses. They can also decide to participate to another training as Feldenkrais® Practitioners.
As part of their training, students receive a minimum of 12 Functional Integration® lessons given by Trainers, Assistant Trainer and Experienced Practitioners.
At the end of the second year of training (after 400 hours), students undergo an Awareness Through Movement® supervision. Upon successful completion of the supervision, they receive the authorisation to teach ATMs to the public as part of their ongoing learning.
At the end of the fourth year, there will be a Functional Integration® supervision. The student will then receive the final international certificate of Feldenkrais® Practitioner.

LEARNING PROCESS
Students are exposed to a variety of teaching and learning strategies: ATM lessons, FI demonstrations, practical laboratories, analysis of the structure of ATM lessons, videos of Moshe Feldenkrais (both giving FIs and his conferences), group discussions, reading and presentations of books, etc.
Some of the concepts and skills that Trainers teach during the training are:- Observation skills
- Kinaesthetic and tactile sensitivity and perception
- Theoretical understanding of the efficacy of the Feldenkrais® method
- Pedagogical competency to teach the method, both in group and in individual sessions
- Basic anatomy
- Mechanics of movement
Through individual research and the personal experience of the method (somatic learning), students:
- Learn to feel, recognise and understand how people move and develop their own potential
- Understand the dynamics of learning
- Acquire manual skills to use in FI
- Lean to present the method to the public
- Share their learning with other students of the training
The training uses a very dynamic approach that allows an organic learning of the method and a discovery of ourselves.
-
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
In order to join a training, the only necessary requirements are to have had an experience of group lessons of Awareness Through Movement® and individual sessions of Functional Integration® and to have a middle school degree.

WHAT DOES THE FELDENKRAIS® PRACTITIONER DO?
“If you can teach people to stand on their feet and like themselves for that they are, everyone will want to work with you”
Moshe FeldenkraisThe Feldenkrais® practitioner observes how people move, understands how they could move in a more functional way and guides them to coordinate movements and parts of the body in order to get to their most efficient way of moving. This way is specific for every person, as there is no perfect movement to reach.
A practitioner creates the conditions in which the student understands its abilities, learns new ones and recuperates those that were lost.
The Feldenkrais® method can be taught through:
- Group lessons (Awareness Through Movement®), where the voice of the practitioner guides the person through the exploration and understanding of its abilities of movement, listening and learning
- Individual lessons (Functional Integration®), where the practitioner, through the touch of his/her hands, creates a non-verbal dialogue in which the person can discover a more integrated and functional way of moving
The Feldenkrais® method allows to:
- Improve posture and flexibility
- Refine coordination and awareness of movement
- Improve the ease of movement in everyday life
- Acquire more efficient movement patterns
- Reduce and prevent stress and pain
- Increase precision and strength in artistic and sports performance
- Increase sensory awareness
- Reduce recovery time after injuries
- Learn to learn
- Enrich our self-image
- Increase self-confidence
At the end of the training, the student will also be able to apply the method to a very wide range of environments and jobs, such as physiotherapy, rehabilitation, gerontology, childcare, psychomotricity, martial arts, dance, music, sports, etc.
